Car Sales Report for July 2017

Most of the 4-wheeler manufacturers posted positive growth last month. Lets take a closer look at the industry car sales for July 2017.

Maruti Suzuki India Limited, sold a total of 1,65,346 units in July 2017, growing 20.6 percent over the same period of last fiscal. This includes 1,54,001 units in the domestic market and 11,345 units of exports. The company had sold a total of 1,37,116 units in July 2016. The company has been receiving high demand for the Vitara Brezza and Baleno, while bestsellers continue to be the Alto and DZire car lines.

Tata Motors passenger and commercial vehicle total sales (including exports) in July 2017 were at 46,216 vehicles, higher by 7 percent over 43,160 vehicles sold in July 2016. The company’s domestic sales of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles for July 2017 were at 42,775 units, higher by 13 percent, over 37,789 units, in July 2016. Most of the growth in the PV segment has been contributed by the Tata Tiago. The company is all set to launch its mini SUV the Tata Nexon very soon.

Hyundai Motor India, registered domestic car sales of 43,007 units for the month of July 2017. This marks a growth of 4.4 percent over 41,201 units sold during July 2016. The company is all set to launch the next generation 2017 Verna in India next month.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor on the other hand recorded its best ever July sales this year. It sold a total of 17,750 units in the domestic market thereby registering over 43 percent growth as compared to its domestic sales in the corresponding period last year. This is the company’s third highest ever domestic sales achievement in a month. The company also exported 1,723 units of the Etios series. Toyota recently organised a Monsoon Camp for its customers with many benefits and offers for the owners.

Ford India’s combined domestic wholesales and exports in July reached 26,075 vehicles from 17,742 vehicles in the corresponding month last year. July domestic wholesales recorded 8,418 vehicles, as against 7,076 units, while exports grew to 17,657 vehicles compared to 10,666 units in July of last year. The company’s next launch will be the EcoSport facelift during this festive season.

Mahindra & Mahindra announced its auto sales performance for July 2017 which stood at 41,747 vehicles, compared to 39,458 vehicles during July 2016, representing a growth of 6 percent. The PV segment (which includes UVs, Cars and Vans) sold 20,962 vehicles in July 2017, as against 17,356 vehicles during July 2016, registering a growth of 21 percent.

Honda Cars India registered monthly domestic car sales of 17,085 units in July 2017 against 14,033 units in corresponding month last year, registering a growth of 22 percent. The company has sold 55,647 units during April–July 2017 with a cumulative growth of over 21 percent as against 45,880 units during April–July 2016. The company recently launched the Honda WR-V in India.

Volkswagen India announced its monthly car sales performance for July 2017, selling 4,753 units, constituting a 10.5 percent growth as compared to 4,301 vehicles sold in the corresponding month of the previous year. The Volkswagen Tiguan was recently launched by the company that received praise for its tough build quality.
