FCA India delivers first batch of Jeep Compass SUV in Kochi
FCA India has commenced with deliveries of the brand new Jeep Compass in Kochi, Kerala. The handing over ceremony was held at Hyson Kerala India. The ceremony was inaugurated by the chairman of Hyson Kerala, Mr. Hyder. The Jeep Compass bring with it many new manufacturing techniques like laser welding of doors etc. The car is locally made in India at Ranjangaon, Pune and will be exported to all right hand drive markets around the world. The Jeep Compass is powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine that develops 173 PS and 350 Nm, and a 1.4-litre MultiAir petrol motor developing 162 PS and 250 Nm. Both engines are available with a 6-speed manual gearbox while only the petrol gets a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox.
The SUV will be available in 5 variants – Sport, Longitude, Longitude (O), Limited and Limited (O). The base Sport variant gets features like a 5-inch Uconnect infotainment system, 16-inch steel wheels, electric parking brake, 4 wheel disc brakes and all black interiors. This variant will be only available with a 6-speed manual transmission Mated to both the engine derivatives. The Longitude variant on the other hand will only be available with the diesel motor and gets features like 17-inch alloy wheels, dual tone interior, keyless entry and go and rear parking sensors. The Longitude (O) adds features like a 7-inch Uconnect infotainment system with Apple Car Play and Android Auto and projector headlights.
The Jeep Compass Limited gets features like LED taillights, rear camera, grey leather upholstery and the SelecTerrain 4 wheel drive system. The Limited (O) variant gets HID projector headlights and a contrast black roof in addition to all the above mentioned features. Safety features like Dual front airbags, ABS, EBD, stability and traction control are standard on all variants, while side and curtain airbags are offered only on the Limited trims. There are 5 colour options on offer – Hybrid blue, Exotica red, Brilliant black, Vocal white and Minimal grey. The Jeep Compass will retail out of 50 dealerships across 47 cities.
