Hyundai teases the interior of the next-gen Verna

We had earlier reported how Hyundai has been testing the next generation Hyundai Verna in India, here.Now, with the Hyundai’s best selling sedan soon to be launched, Hyundai has shared a teaser pic of the 2017 Hyundai Verna and we cannot resist ourselves from commenting on that.

Off late, Hyundai has been toning down its aggressive flamboyant design in its latest models to a bit more matured fluidic design language 2.0. The sharp cuts and heavy creases are making way for a bit more subtle and straighter curves in line with Hyundai’s new design terms. The design of the Hyundai Accent that is currently on sale in North America is a perfect example of that.In fact, the 2017 Hyundai Verna’s design is heavily inspired by its North American cousin.

Coming to the latest teaser shared, it gives a fair idea on what to expect from the interiors of the next gen Hyundai Verna. By the looks of it, the interior seems to be more of ‘run off the mill’ type with no striking shapes usually reminiscent of Hyundai’s previous gen fluidic design. The interior features a two tone dashboard with chocolate brown colored top dash complimented by a beige lower half. The dashboard design seems to be smooth flowing starting from the driver side and gracefully ending at the passenger side.

The central console houses a touchscreen infotainment system which should support all the latest technologies such as bluetooth, USB, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto. The spy pics also reveal a steering wheel with audio and music controls which is as per the segment standards.Expect Hyundai to load the 2017 Verna with tons of features to set it apart from its competition.

Existing engine options of 1.6 litre gamma petrol and the 1.6 litre diesel should continue to be offered with the new Verna. Expect Hyundai to ditch the 4-speed auto in the current Verna and offer 6-speed automatics of both the petrol and diesel options in the new Verna as seen in the Hyundai Creta.

With only a couple of months to go, Hyundai is betting big on its next gen Verna to make a deep impact on the sedan market. While the current generation Hyundai Verna had been a best seller a couple or triple of years back, the arrival of new Honda City and the success of Maruti Ciaz had pushed it to the backseat. With sales hovering just around triple digit mark now, Hyundai badly wants the new Verna to succeed.

But whether it has what it is necessary to topple the segment kings, City and Ciaz, only time will tell.
