Jeep Compass Scores 5-Star Safety Rating in Euro NCAP Crash Test
Jeep Compass has been a runaway success story for FCA here in India with more than 10,000 bookings already underway and 70,000 inquiries. Now to make the story sweeter the Compass has received 5-Star safety rating in the Euro NCAP (New Car Assessment Programme) Crash test conducted recently and ratings released yesterday.
The Jeep Compass scored 90%t for adult occupant safety while it scored 83% for the child occupant safety and 64% on the pedestrian safety test. NCAP Europe had tested the left hand drive version of the Jeep Compass 4X4 Limited sold in Europe for this test. In India the Jeep Compass sells in right hand drive version and as per FCA the safety standards are the same globally. The only difference on the Jeep Compass 4×4 Limited sold here as compared to the tested European version is the number of air bags. The India specs Compass comes with six air bags while the European one gets eight air bags. Both cars however do get identical body structures and crumple zones along with ISOFIX points at the rear for child seats which gets accounted for in these crash tests.
The Jeep Compass was launched on 31st of July and since then has seen a huge demand across the country. The Jeep Compass comes powered by a 2.0L MultiJet Diesel and 1.4L Multi-Air Turbo Petrol. The Diesel engine has 173PS and 350 Nm of torque while the Petrol engine makes 162PS and 250Nm of torque. The Diesel version of the Compass gets a 6-speed manual transmission while the Petrol comes with both he 6-speed manual as well as the 7-speed DDCT (Dry Dual Clutch Technology) or Automatic Transmission. The Compass is available in three trims – Sport, Longitude and Limited and 10 variants, including a 4×2 Turbo Petrol with a 7-speed automatic transmission (DDCT).
The Jeep Compass is currently being retailed out of 50 Jeep-flagship and FCA outlets, across 47 cities. FCA is expanding its sales network to 60 outlets by the end of this calendar year. The Jeep Compass comes with a three-year / 100,000 km manufacturer’s warranty and in addition, a complimentary Road-side Assistance (RSA) package for three (3) years. Customers can avail of an extended warranty program to enjoy additional warranty up to one or two years.
