Mercedes-Benz will. have a all new model added to its lineup soon, the GLB will join the GLS, GLE, GLC, GLA. The pretty looking German SUV was snapped by our friends from CarScoop.com being hard tested in snow.
Internally codenamed as the X247 the prototype that was snapped was heavily camoflauged except for the tail lights that look extremely attractive. The tail lamps lot like the latest generation Mercedes G-Class from the German car makers range.
Mercedes chairman Dieter Zetsche had announced a future eight-strong family of compact models at the Detroit motor show in January and the GLB will be a part of that family.
The Mercedes-Benz GLB will be based on the MFA2 architecture that it shares with the GLA. Even though both the GLA and GLB share the same platform the GLB is expected to be larger in dimension and could be heavily based on the A-Class in terms of exterior styling. There also could be a 7-seater version of the GLB meant for a few select countries. As per rumors doing rounds the cabin of the Mercedes GLB would also be based on the A-Class along with the inclusion of the new MBUX infotainment system that will also make an appearance on this all new SUV. On the technical side too the GLB will come powered by the engines that power the GLA along with Hybrids and plug-in-hybrid units. It is also rumored that the Mercedes and Renault-Nissan co- developed 160bhp 4-cylinder engine would also make its appearance on the GLB.
The Mercedes-Benz GLB is said to make its real world appearence in full glory in end 2019 or early 2020 as 200, 220 and 250 versions. There also would be the flagship AMG version of the GLB on the lineup.
The Mercedes-Benz GLB would directly rival the BMW X1, Audi Q3
