BYD India has announced a major milestone, delivering more than 10,000 electric passenger vehicles across the country. This achievement highlights the brand’s growing acceptance in the premium EV space and strengthens its position as one of the fastest-expanding electric automakers in India.

Currently, BYD offers four models in its passenger EV portfolio – the Sealion 7, Atto 3, eMax 7, and the Seal sedan. This range allows the company to cater to different customer needs, from family-friendly SUVs to premium sedans.

With 44 dealerships spread across India, BYD continues to widen its retail and service footprint. A key factor behind the brand’s success, according to the company, has been referrals from existing customers. This reflects growing trust in BYD’s technology, after-sales support, and long-term commitment to the Indian market.

On achieving this milestone, Rajeev Chauhan, Head of Electric Passenger Vehicles Business at BYD India, said:

“Reaching the 10,000-customer milestone in India is a proud achievement that reflects the growing trust and enthusiasm for BYD’s vision of cleaner, greener mobility. Every vehicle we put on the road reduces emissions, advances EV technology, and strengthens a sustainable mobility ecosystem. Referrals from existing customers have also contributed to this growth, underscoring the confidence and satisfaction they place in our brand. We remain committed to delivering world-class innovation, exceptional service, and products that truly meet the aspirations of Indian consumers.”

What’s Next for BYD India?

The next big product for India is expected to be the BYD Atto 2, an entry-level all-electric SUV that has already been spotted undergoing road tests in India. Positioned below the Atto 3, the Atto 2 will be BYD’s most affordable EV in the country, opening the doors to a wider audience. Its launch will also allow the company to strengthen its position against mainstream competitors in the sub-₹20 lakh EV segment.

Competition Check: Where BYD Stands

India’s EV market is becoming increasingly competitive, and BYD’s achievement of crossing 10,000 EV deliveries puts it in an interesting position.

In contrast, BYD has focused on the premium EV space, differentiating itself with long-range models, advanced tech, and luxury positioning. With the upcoming Atto 2, BYD is expected to broaden its appeal by competing in the entry-level SUV segment, where Tata currently holds a strong lead.

With this milestone and its upcoming launches, BYD India is positioning itself as a serious challenger in the country’s fast-growing EV market, balancing premium offerings with an entry into more affordable segments.
