Mercedes-Benz has launched the G 350d in India at a price of ₹1.50crore. This becomes the first non AMG G-Class to be launched in India. This also is the first time that Mercedes has launched a Diesel engined G-Class version of the highly capable SUV in the country. The Mercedes G 350d is available in India as a CBU full import model.
This is the standard version of the performance oriented AMG G 63 which was earlier sold in India. On the outside, the Mercedes-Benz G 350d looks a bit subtle and comes with a three-slat grille, neat designed wheel arches that make it stand out.
The G 350d possesses the patent G- Class boxy silhouette styling and also comes with similar body design with slight changes given to the grille, bumpers, headlight and tail lights.
On the inside the styling on the Mercedes G 350d is very similar to that on the G63,l. The dash comes in dual-tone beige and black finish. In terms of equipment the G 350d gets the latest Mercedes 12.3-inch touchscreen unit loaded with the latest MBUX system.
The Mercedes-Benz G 350d comes powered by the BS-6 complaint 3.0-litre, inline six-cylinder motor which generates 282 bhp and belts out a mean 600 Nm of peak torque and gets paired to a 9G-Tronic automatic transmission. The mean off-roading machine comes with features like three differential locks – one each for the front and rear axle along with central differential as well.
There also is a permanent four-wheel drive system and gas filled shock absorbers included on the feature list. In terms of performance the Mercedes G 350d does the 0-100kmph run in 7.4 seconds.
The Mercedes G-Wagon competes with the likes of the recently launched 2019 Jeep Wrangler and the Toyota Land Cruiser LC.
