Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles (TMPV), a subsidiary of Tata Motors, has made a comeback in the South African passenger vehicle market, unveiling a fresh lineup at a launch event held at The Galleria in Sandton, Johannesburg. The re-entry is backed by a partnership with Motus Holdings, South Africa’s largest automotive group. The move comes on the back of TMPV’s strong momentum in India, where sales have grown from 170,000 units in 2020 to over 560,000 units in 2025, marking a 350% surge.
A strong focus on safety continues to define the brand, with the entire lineup carrying 4- or 5-star ratings from leading crash test authorities, including Global NCAP (GNCAP) and Bharat NCAP (BNCAP) – India’s official safety rating body.
Speaking at the launch, Mr. Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicle Ltd. and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., said, “Our return to South Africa marks a significant milestone in Tata Motors’ global journey. We are excited to bring our new-generation of vehicles-engineered with cutting-edge technology, uncompromising safety, and modern design-to a market that values safety, quality and innovation.
