Audi begins Local Production of the Q5 SUV, launch scheduled soon
Audi India has today announced it has started the local production of its 2021 Q5 SUV at their SAVWIPL Aurangabad plant. Audi is all set to launch the locally produced Q5 very soon . The Audi Q5 is one of the most important and well known model from the German car makers SUV lineup and the German car maker wants to make a good impact with it in terms of sales. The Q5 will be the ninth car model to be launched by Audi this year which also includes five EVs.
Audi had earlier suspended sales temporarily of the Q3, Q5 and Q7 last year when India was moving into the BS-VI emission norms. Diesel engine options on the Audi range of cars were also stopped during the same time.
“We plan to launch the locally-produced Q5 in November. We’ve been waiting for this for a long time. So far we are doing extremely well in spite of the fact that some of our volume models like Q range are not there in full strength,” Audi India Head Balbir Singh Dhillon had earlier told PTI.
The Q5 could just be the right car model for Audi India to get back with big sales numbers. The car maker had also said that the temporary reduction in import duties will help build volumes required for manufacturing electric vehicles in India, at a time when the government has approved a INR 25,938-crore production linked-incentive scheme (PLI) to encourage transition to green mobility. Audi India which had more than 10,000 sales units in 2013-14 and had dominated the Luxury Premium car maker then until it lost the top slot to Mercedes-Benz which since then has been the Number one Premium car maker in the country
