Land Rover Defender 130 Premium 8-Seater SUV Unveiled
Land Rover has unveiled the highly awaited Defender 130 which is the first 8-seater Defender ever. JLR says Land Rover Defender 130 allows you to do some hardcore off roading in a very practical and spacious cabin with 8 people onboard. The brute SUV comes loaded with a long feature list loaded with equipment and will be available with mild hybrid engines.
The British says that the SUV will help people in groups enjoy epic all-terrain adventures together as such shared explorations are becoming popular across the globe.
The Defender 130 has a gone longer in length and has been extended by 340 mm which is prominently visible with the extended overhang on its rear profile. The seating for 8 passengers comes divided in 3 rows of seats configured as 2+3+3.
In terms of exterior styling there is not much that’s changed as compared to the Defender 90 and 110 except for the extended length, twin sun roof (panoramic & fixed). The front bumpers get a copper-bronze finish along with large sized alloy wheels that make it stand out.
With the extended length the boot capacity also has gone up on the Defender 130 which now stands at 2291 litres with the second and third row seats folded.
With the middle row up on the Defender 130 you get a storage capacity of 1232 litres. The Defender will be available in 5 trims – S, SE, X-Dynamic SE, X, and First Edition.
In terms of features the Defender 130 gets dedicated ventilation for each row, 4-zone climate control system, air suspension to load the luggage easily, 10.25-inch infotainment system and 11.4-inch instrument cluster, air purification system, latest Pivi Pro, advanced driver display, .
Two Engine options are on offer on the Land Rover Defender 130, both are mild hybrid units. You get the P300 with a 3-litre mild hybrid turbocharged engine that makes 296 HP and 470 Nm. The P400 comes powered with a 6-cylinder unit that generates 395 HP and 550 Nm. The engines are mated to Land Rover’s 8-speed ZF automatic transmission. A terrain response system comes standard on the SUV. The Defender 130 has a max payload of 798 kg.
The new 8-seater off-roader has been priced from $68,000/- (Rs. 52,81,662/-). It joins the existing Defender 90 and 110 models and becomes as the flagship Defender on the lineup. The Defender 130 is expected to be launched in India sometime later this year. Time for adventure at a grander scale.
