Land Rover Defender Octa Launched in India, Bookings to Open Soon
Land Rover has announced the much awaited Defender Octa in the Indian market, pricing for this high performance and highly capable Premium SUV starts at Rs. 2.65 Crore ex showroom. There also is the Defender Octa Edition One that would be available during the first year of its production priced at Rs. 2.85 crore ex showroom. Bookings for the SUV will also open soon across Land Rover outlets across the country. The high-performance vehicle will debut at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed from 11th to 14th July.
The Defender Octa though based on the Defender 110 comes with loads of distinctive design elements that sets it apart. The Defender Octa gets a raised ride height, wider stance, extended wheel arches all of this offering a strong stance and road presence to te SUV. The front ans rear bumper get a complete redesign to improve its approach and departure angles. You also get a tough under body protection on the Octa that will help it during treacherous off-roading activities.
The water wading capability has also been increased to 1 meter, the SUV drives on 20 inch forged alloy wheels that come mounted with all terrain tyres. The Defender Octa comes in new exclusive paint shade options – New Petra Copper and Faroe Green.
Defender Octa gets 28mm taller, wider by 68mm and also gets 400mm front disc brakes along with Brembo calipers and a fastest steering ratio ever on any Defender till date.
In terms of interiors the new body color options sync with the interior theme that come in Khaki and Ebony Ultrfabrics TM PU which is claimed to be 30% lighter than the regular leather one. The cabin on the Octa looks like the Defender 110 but gets a dedicated button that enables the SUV to go into the off road mode with performance focus. It also gets the Octa mode that enables the SUV for optimum acceleration under tricky conditions.
You also get a suite that’s similar to the Terrain Response modes that offer different settings for the Sand, Mud, and Ruts, Grass Gravel Snow and Rock Crawl all of this assisted by off road driver aids like ClearSight Ground View2.The Defender Octa also gets a special audio system that has been developed with music industry experts Subpac and Coventry University which allows the driver and the front passenger to feel and hear the music.
Powering the Land Rover Defender Octa is the mighty 4.4 Litre Twin-turbo mild hybrid V8 engine that makes it the most powerful Defender ever. This engine makes 626bhp and 750Nm of torque all this mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission with high and low range gears. Just for the records this brute premium SUV can do a dash to 100kmph in just four seconds.
