LIVE – Mercedes-Benz launches the New C-Class with prices starting at Rs.55 Lakh

Mercedes-Benz has launched the New C-Class in India with prices starting at Rs. 55 Lakh. The 2022 C-Class will be available in one Petrol and two Diesel options with the C200 the petrol priced at Rs. 55 Lakh, C220d Diesel priced at Rs. 56 Lakh and the C300d Diesel priced at Rs. 61 Lakh ex showroom. The New C-Class will be available in six exterior paint schemes. These will include Opalite White, High-tech Silver, Mojave Silver, Salatine Grey, Obsidian Black and Manukaftur Opalite. Interior themes include Macchiato Beige, Sienna Brown and a Black with wood trim or metal trim options. Mercedes-Benz had opened pre bookings for the New C-Class last month for a short period exclusively for existing Mercedes owners.

The new fifth-generation C-Class is a bigger car overall than the model it replaces, increased in length by 65mm to 4751mm and 10mm extra in width to 1820mm, although it sits 7mm higher. The wheelbase has grown by 25mm too, which helps provide a more room in the cabin. The exterior design language is rounded and a lot fluidic with smooth character lines on the bonnet, the all new design bumper, flushed back mini S-Class design intelligent headlamp and the imposing large Mercedes grille with its logo flaunting it. The wide air dam with the flowing design line running on its width adds to the dominating classy yet premium look of the sedan upfront. The sides the S-Class lineage is much more evident here with the soft character lines around the waistline, door section and the fender lip all reminding you of it. The sloping roof line along with the chrome garnish around the glass area make the sides look rich along with the door handles that get a hint of chrome on them. The rear profile of the C-Class also instantly reminds you of the S-Class with rounded bumper and blacked out lower section that houses the twin faux exhausts on either ends, triangular sharp edged LED tail lamps along with the sloping rear wind shield.

Interiors on the New C-Class reminds you a lot of the S-Class with the premium dash, the turbine AC vents, ambient lighting, the large 11.9 inch portrait touch screen MBUX system, new design steering, seats with futerestic head rests, twin pane sun roof, 12.3 inch driver display, 15 speaker sound system to name a few.

The New Mercedes C-Class is also known as the Baby S-Class as it shares a lot of its tech goodies and looks with the Mercedes S-Class. Powering the New Mercedes C-Class C200 is the 1.5 litre petrol engine that makes 204 hp and 300Nm of torque. The diesel engines will produce 200hp and 440Nm in the C200d and 265hp/550Nm in the C300d, respectively. The Mercedes-Benz 9-speed TRONIC automatic transmission is standard across all variants. Mercedes-Benz claims that the New C-class will return a mileage of 16.9 kmpl in its petrol variant while the diesel variants have a claimed mileage of 23 kmpl. All the three varients of the New C-Class also come with 48V Mild Hybrid system integrated to the engine that boosts its overall power output.
