Mercedes AMG SL55 4Matic+ Launched at Rs. 2.35 Crore

Mercedes-Benz India has launched the 2023 AMG SL 55 4Matic+ in India priced at Rs. 2.35 Crores. Globally the stylish roadster made its first appearance in 2022 and Mercedes India has got it to our shores quickly.

The Mercedes AMG SL 55 4Matic+ will be got into India via the CBU route. This is the 7th generation for the Mercedes-AMG SL range, and the SL family consists of the SL 43, SL 55 and the range-topping SL 63. The car model makes a comeback after a gap of 12 years when Mercedes stopped sale for the earlier generation SL for India.

In terms of looks the AMG SL 55 4Matic+ uses the latest Mercedes design language. The key USP or bragging point of this car is its drop-top fabric roof which can be opened and closed at speeds of up to 40 kmph. Key styling elements include the AMG-specific radiator grille with its 14 vertical slats, LED headlamps, slim LED tail lamps, along with large intakes and a quad-tipped exhaust give this sportster a sure show stopper look.

In terms of interiors the SL55 comes with a 2+2 seating layout with decent space in the second row as well. Key styling elements on the inside include typical latest generation cockpit design that is driver focused, 12.3-inch digital driver display and an adjustable 11.9-inch infotainment screen in the centre console equipped with the latest-gen MBUX system, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other equipment includes the ‘Airscarf’ neck-level heating system, heated and ventilated front seats with an in-built massage function, and a Burmester surround sound system. Other features of the car include a multi-function steering wheel, automatic climate control, anti-lock braking system, and passenger & driver airbags.

The SL55 also comes with carbon fiber interiors in line with AMG specifications, and its 11.9-inch MBUX vertical touchscreen infotainment system comes with augmented reality-powered head-up display, tailored to AMG vehicles. Additional highlights include a multi-function steering wheel, automatic climate control, anti-lock braking system, and driver and passenger airbags. Notably, the seventh-generation SL will be exclusively available in the AMG version, aligning itself with AMG components, drivetrain, chassis, and electrical design, which it shares with the second-generation AMG GT, promising exceptional performance and driving dynamics.

Powering the SL55 is a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 that generates 469 bhp and 699 Nm of torque. The power unit is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. The car also gets the AMG 4Matic all-wheel-drive system and can do 0 to 100 kmph in just 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 294 kmph.
