New Land Rover Defender to launch in India on the 15th of October

Jaguar Land Rover India today announced that the iconic New Land Rover Defender will be launched in India on 15 th October, 2020 at 7:30 pm, via a one-of- its-kind digital launch event, which will be open to members of the media, Land Rover customers and fans and enthusiasts of the brand.

This would be a huge milestone for Land Rover with the launch of the Defender in India on 15 October, 2020. For India Land Rover will offer the Defender in the three door 90 and the five-door 110 body styles across five variants which include the Base, S, SE, HSE and the First Edition. The Land Rover Defender is expected to be priced at Rs 69.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Bookings for the SUV commenced earlier this year while the deliveries were slated to begin from August which got delayed due to the ongoing pandemic.

Land Rover Defender gets short overhangs, higher ground clearance, and upright front and rear elevations. The SUV will be available in seven colour options – pangea green, gondwana stone, indus silver, tasman blue, eiger grey, santorini black, and fuji white. The raised bonnet, a neatly sculpted grille, and squared LED headlamps add to the rugged character. The rear section gets a spare wheel mounted on the tailgate with vertically stacked squared LED taillamps on either side. Customers can choose from nine wheel options, which are available in two sizes – 18-inch and 20-inch.

In terms of interiors the Land Rover Defender classic retro dashboard layout sporting a large touchscreen infotainment in the centre with rectangular air vents on the top.  The base variant will come with an  analogue instrument cluster while the fully loaded trim will come with digital instrument cluster and a head-up display. You also get a jump seat in the front row, driver assist pack, folding fabric roof, sliding panoramic roof, fixed metal roof and more on the feature list of the Defender.

Powering the Land Rover Defender is the 2.0-litre petrol engine of the Ingenium family that produces 296bhp @ 5,500rpm and makes 400Nm of torque between 1,500-4,000rpm. The engine comes mated to automatic transmission powering all the wheels.
