SWM-Superdual

SWM Motorcycles is yet another Italian motorcycle manufacturer that is set to land in India this year. It will join rest of its mates from Italy in India like Ducati, Aprilia, Benelli, Moto Guzzi, MV Agusta and Vespa. The brand is amongst less known worldwide and was founded by Piero Sironi and Fausto Vergani in 1971. That is also what the name stands for – Sironi Vergani Vimercate Milano; Milano, since it was founded there. In the founding decade, the company manufactured a range of off-road and Enduro motorcycles, but production suddenly stopped in 1984.

But come 2014 and the company revealed 6 new models at the EICMA. The company CEO Ampelio Macchi showed to the world these new concept models back then and is now present in Italy, Europe and many developing markets around the globe. SWM Motorcycles is now funded by the Shineray Group, another Chinese Giant leaded by Daxing Gong. The company currently has 11 models from the Enduro, Super Moto, Classic and On Road categories. Kinetic group owned MotoRoyale will be getting these bikes to India via the CKD route in 2018.

SWM Motorcycles has a wide range of motorcycles powered by 125cc to 600cc engines. But the ones set to enter India first are the Super Dual 650. This one is an adventure tourer motorcycle and is powered by a 600cc single cylinder engine that develops 53 HP. The motorcycle gets liquid cooling with 2 water radiators and an electric fan. It is based on a double cradle mainframe made up of round steel pipes and a light weight alloy for the rear frame. The front suspension setup are upside down forks sourced from Fast Ace while the rear single hydraulic shock absorber is sourced from Sachs.
