Based on the E-Class, it comes with a twin-turbo 4.0-litre “hot vee” V8 engine found in many AMG-fettled models and it’s reckoned as the fastest station wagon to date, boasting a zero to 100 kmph time faster than an AMG GT R sports car. The E63 S version comes with a fifth driving mode, Race, which is suitable for hard track usage. The 2017 Mercedes-AMG E63 Estate offers a boot capacity of 640 litres which can be increased to a class leading 1,820 litres by folding down the rear seats. The rear seat itself can be positioned at a 10-degree steeper angle to liberate an extra 30 litres of boot space. The seats are electronically foldable and get a 40:20:40 split.
