Nobody is perfect but if you drive a Mercedes your pretty close… with this famous tagline I would like to acquaint you to the introduction of the 2017 Mercedes-AMG E63 Estate. Based on the E-Class, it comes with a twin-turbo 4.0-litre “hot vee” V8 engine found in many AMG-fettled models and it’s reckoned as the fastest station wagon to date, boasting a zero to 100 kmph time faster than an AMG GT R sports car. The range-topping E63 S 4Matic+ gets added boost pressure which helps it develop 611 HP and 849 Nm. The standard E63 Estate 4Matic+ on the other hand churns out 571 HP and 748 Nm of torque.

The 2017 Mercedes-Benz E63 S offers a “Drift mode” where in the four-wheel drive system delivers power to the rear wheels. It can be engaged via the paddle shifters and remain engaged until the driver deactivates it. One can pick from four driving modes on the E63 Estate – Comfort, Sport, Sport Plus and Individual. The E63 S version comes with a fifth driving mode, Race, which is suitable for hard track usage. There is a mechanical differential lock for the E63 Estate and a electronic differential lock on the E63 S 4Matic+ which responds much faster than the former.

The 2017 Mercedes-AMG E63 Estate offers a boot capacity of 640 litres which can be increased to a class leading 1,820 litres by folding down the rear seats. The rear seat itself can be positioned at a 10-degree steeper angle to liberate an extra 30 litres of boot space. The seats are electronically foldable and get a 40:20:40 split. The Mercedes-AMG E63 Estate is set to make its global debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month after which it will go on sale in international markets, April 2017 onward. It will compete with the Audi RS6 Avant and the BMW 5-Series Touring globally.
