2018 Hyundai i20 Active facelift rendered
Few renderings of the Hyundai i20 Active have surfaced online which give us a fair idea on what to expect from the rugged pseudo SUV aspiring hatchback from the Hyundai’s stable. The render shows how the Hyundai i20 Active looks like if the design details of the soon to be facelifted Hyundai i20 hatchback are carried forward to the hatchback.
The 2018 Hyundai i20 Active should feature several unique design elements like the new hexagonal grille with horizontal black slats with honeycomb meshes in the background. The front bumper will be a completely redesigned one to accommodate the new grille and the new designed sharp head lamps. The fog lamps are circular and finished in chrome. The fog lamps are housed inside plastic grille covered surrounded by chrome embellishments. The new gen model is also supposed to get new diamond cut alloy wheels. The rear bumpers too can be expected with a new design with the position of the number plates moved to the tail gate.
Dimension wise, the 2018 Hyundai i20 Active will be identical to the outgoing model with 3995 mm length, 1760 mm width, 1555 mm height and a 2570 mm wheelbase as its vital assets. The ground clearance too is touted to be at 190 mm which is good for a pseudo SUV stance.
Inside, features wise, expect the Hyundai to play its master game. The car will be loaded with features such as a new upholstery fabric with fresher design, new and updated multi information system display and a new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Mirror Link and satellite navigation.
Hyundai is expected to carry forward its existing set of petrol and diesel engines albeit with slightly different tuning for better fuel efficiency. The 1.2 litre Kappa petrol developing 84 PS and mated to a 5-speed gearbox and the 1.4 litre turbo-diesel developing 90 PS and mated to a 6-speed manual tranny.
While the facelifted Elite i20 will be launched by early 2018 with a display spot in the 2018 Auto Expo, it is still not clear when Hyundai will launch the i20 Active.
