Hyundai rolls out the 3 millionth car off its Chennai plant

Hyundai, India’s largest car exporter has achieved yet another milestone and we were there to witness it LIVE. The company has rolled out it’s 3 millionth export vehicle today from it’s plant in Sriperumbudur.

The 3 millionth car was a Hyundai Aura sedan that was just launched last week. This also marks the commencement of exports for this particular model to 88 countries worldwide. These includes various countries in the Latin America, Africa, Asia Pacific and Europe.

The company started with exporting just 20units in the year 1999 to Nepal. The company following milestone of 100,000 units was achieved in October 2004, while the 1 millionth and 2 millionth export unit came in February 2010 and March 2014 respectively. The company has exported 181,200 units with 792 customized variants to suit customer preferences and needs from those specific regions. Hyundai is the market leader in the PV segment in Nepal and Libya with a market share of 29 percent and a momentous 80 percent respectively.

We also got a chance to take a tour of the Hyundai India’s engine assembly line that produces the 1.0-litre turbo petrol and the 1.2-litre diesel engine, alongside the company’s upcoming 1.5-litre diesel engine that will power the upcoming Hyundai Creta. The company is set to launch the all new Creta and the Tusconfacelift soon at the 2020 Auto Expo. Stay tuned to Motor World India for the latest updates on these upcoming models.
