Land Rover Defender Upgraded: Enhanced Features and Improved Performance
- The 2025 model year Land Rover Defender has been globally unveiled with substantial updates. The esteemed British marque has implemented significant enhancements across its Defender range, focusing on refining powertrains, interior comfort, and trim options.
A pivotal modification can be found under the hood, where a more potent diesel engine option has been introduced. Replacing the D300, the D350, sourced from the Range Rover lineup, offers a notable power boost of 50 HP and 50 Nm of torque, resulting in a combined output of 350 HP and 700 Nm of torque. This upgrade is poised to deliver improved performance, particularly in crucial areas like overtaking and towing.
Furthermore, the Defender now presents a plug-in hybrid option equipped with a downsized 1.5-liter 3-cylinder engine, replacing the former 2.0-liter 4-cylinder unit. This adjustment is in harmony with emissions regulations, ensuring adherence to Euro 6e standards.
In addition, the petrol lineup undergoes a notable transformation, welcoming the introduction of a powerful 425 HP supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine, replacing the previous P400 Ingenium straight-six petrol variant.
In addition, Land Rover enhances interior comfort with the introduction of a Captain Chairs pack for the three-row Defender 130 variant. This package replaces the middle bench with individual armchairs, featuring heating, ventilation, and easy access to amenities like cupholders. The objective is to provide a premium seating experience akin to front-row comfort, particularly for second-row passengers.
Furthermore, Land Rover introduces a variety of trim options, including the Sedona edition of the 110 model. This edition showcases bespoke aesthetics such as red paintwork and a black trim pack, offering customers a selection of unique styling choices to suit their preferences.
Land Rover is poised to unveil the updated Defender in India in the coming months, with expectations pointing towards its release around the festive season. Positioned within a highly competitive landscape, it will vie with a broad spectrum of luxury SUVs in India, encompassing contenders such as the Mercedes-Benz GLE, BMW X5, Audi Q7, Volvo XC90, and similar offerings.
