LIVE : Mercedes-Benz has launched its Electric Mobility brand EQ in India today


Mercedes-Benz has launched its Electric Mobility brand EQ in India today at a colourful evening media event at its Pune facility. The Mercedes EQC Edition 1886 was also showcased at the event. This would be the first model from the brand to be launched in India later in April 2020. Mercedes will publicly showcase the EQC at the upcoming 2020 Auto Expo in New Delhi next month.

The Mercedes EQC is easily the best looking Electric Vehicle currently in India with its trademark Mercedes Benz styling inside out. The Mercedes EQC is based on the 2016 EQ Concept and retains a lot of its exterior styling cues. The large glossy black grill with the huge Mercedes Benz Star logo makes for the face along with the wraparound flushed LED headlights with unique DRL strip that runs across the bootlid edge giving a unique look. The sides carry the unique EQC badges along with Flat styled alloys and silver finished aluminium  running board. The rear gets slim styled LED tail lights that run across the boot lid mating over the Mercedes logo.

Step inside the cabin and you will feel home if you are a Mercedes fan, the styling of the cockpit is typical Mercedes styling with the large digital LCD ualscreen instrument cluster and center infotainment screen as seen on other models from its stable. The infotainment system uses the latest generation MBUX system and the vehicle comes loaded till the brim in terms of equipment and safety features.

Mercedes Benz will bring the EQC into India via the CBU route hence would be same as the global model in terms of styling and specifications. Driving the Mercedes EQC are two electric motors one each for the front and rear wheels thus making it an All Wheel Drive Electric SUV. These motors make 407hp (300kW) of power and hit out a mammoth 765Nm of torque while the power is derived from the 80kWh Lithium-ion battery pack with a claimed range of more than 400kms as per the WLTP cycle.
