MG Motor begins commercial production of the Hector, releases production Video

MG Motor is all set to launch their first product for India the Hector SUV. The commercial production of the MG Hector has begun and the company has released an official video of the same.

MG Hector will be unveiled in India on the 15th of May and will be launched later in June. The production video that was released shows how the Hector is built at the Halol plant going through all the process and then being driven out of the plant across various terrains.

The MG Hector as the company says will be India’s first Internet car comes with a comprehensive list of connected features and a massive 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment unit as it’s key highlight.

The tablet like touchscreen comes loaded with features like inbuilt internet connectivity, iSmart mobile application-based AC control, door lock and unlock, and a panoramic sunroof. The MG Hector will also get a semi-digital instrument cluster with a large 7-inch colour display. Initially the MG Hector will be available as a five seater and later the company will get the seven seater version.

Powering the MG Hector will be the 2.0-litre Diesel engine sourced from Fiat that also powers the Jeep Compass and the Tata Harrier. The MG Hector will also come with the 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which will also get a 48V mild-hybrid system. Where the 2.0-litre diesel unit is expected to be offered with just a 6-speed manual transmission, the 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol is likely to be a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission as well.

The MG Hector rivals the likes of the Jeep Compass, Mahindra XUV500, Hyundai Tucson and the Tata Harrier in the mid-size SUV segment. Watch this space as we get you all the details of the MG Hector as it’s unveiled on the 15th of this month.
