SPIED! Jeep Renegade spotted testing in the wild… Again!

The Jeep Renegade is the younger sibling of the Jeep Compass and will be priced in the range of Rs. 9-14 lakhs in India.

After the successful launch of the Jeep Compass, FCA India is preparing for its next Jeep SUV for the country. The Jeep Renegade was spotted testing by our reader Amit Jangid in Maharashtra state’s Dhule district. This SUV is going to be the new entry level offering from Jeep when it goes on sale in India next year. The car will supposedly be first showcased at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo with an official launch during May 2018. The Jeep Renegade will compete with the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster AWD and Nissan Terrano. It will be priced in the range of Rs. 9-14 lakhs before taxes.

Jeep India has been hard testing the Renegade and our avid readers have been following up ever since. The first time interiors were spotted by us and yet again our readers have sent us new interior pics, though nothing seems to be drastically changed. So you will get a 6.5-inch UConnect touchscreen infotainment system with satellite navigation, Apple Car Play etc. It will get the renowned tough build quality of the Jeep brand. Some other features will include leather upholstery (test car has fabric seats though!) and a climate control system. From the pics it can be also inferred that the gear shift knob and the electronic parking brake feature will be shared with its elder sibling.

As for powertrain options go, it is unlikely that the Jeep Renegade will share its engine options with the bigger Compass. Instead the company might offer a 1.6-litre diesel engine that also powers the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross. This unit develops nearly 118 PS and a whopping 320 Nm.
