Mahindra launched the all new third generation Scorpio in India in 2014. It was built on an all new platform with an updated engine and mechanicals. The SUV also spawned a pick-up version called the Scorpio Getaway, which up until now was not updated with the latest third generation model. But the company seems set to launch the all new Mahindra Scorpio Getaway very soon and we have spotted this prototype testing on none other than the Mumbai-Pune expressway.

The all new Mahindra Scorpio Getaway borrows its front end styling from the Scorpio SUV right up to the rear door. It is a double cab pick-up that looks much better now. The side gets a new integrated side step while the rear deck area has been carried forward unchanged with similiar taillights although there is a new bumper treatment with an integrated step. The new Mahindra Scorpio Getaway will get similar 5-spoke alloy wheel design as can be seen in the pics.

On the insides, the Mahindra Scorpio Getaway will get an all new interior that will be a lift from the current Scorpio. So it will get an all new dashboard layout, a new steering wheel, new infotainment system and central console, a new MID in the instrument cluster, etc. The car that was spotted has a mHawk badge which means it will share its powertrain with the Scorpio SUV. It will be offered with a 4-wheel drive system and a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Surprisingly, the car that we spotted came with the “Mahindra Pik-Up” logo which is the more utilitarian version of this carline. The Mahindra Scorpio Getaway will take on the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross which has been appreciated for its bold looks and off road ability. The Scorpio Getaway is expected to be priced competitively and to launch by this year end or early next year. We at Motor World India are looking forward to driving this pick-up as it is expected to be a significant step-up over the previous car.
