Spotted – Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500X

Royal Enfield has been riding on a high lately with the ever increasing demand for its motorcycles. The next varient to be launched by the legendary Chennai based motorcycle maker is the Thunderbird 500X. The already popular cruiser model Thunderbird will get the 500X as a fresh variant with cosmetic changes on it. Images of the Thunderbird 500X have been leaked and the motorcycle in the pictures looks like final production versions.

The changes include new bright color options as spotted that include bright blue, yellow, white and red all in solid paint shades same as the Classic 350 Redditch editions. The tank comes in color while the other body panes come in glossy black shade. A new flatter handle bar looks in place as opposed to the cruiser type raised ones that the regular Thunderbird comes with. A new 500X graphic sticker is seen on the side panel along with sporty alloy wheels with radium strip stickering on the alloys matching with the tank shade. The 500X also gets tubeless tyres on the package. The TB 500X as it would be known as also gets a trendy looking single seat which looks more flatter and contoured along with new grab rails.

The motorcycle also gets an all matt black scilencer  Yje projector headlights with LED DRL are retained like on the original Thunderbird with all black housing (existing Thunderbird comes in chrome housing). The suspension setup is also expected to remain unchanged on the TB 500X. The suspension on the 500X is taken care by telescopic forks up front and twin gas-charged shock absorbers at the rear. The brake system also is expected to be the same with 280mm disc, with 2-Piston caliper up front and 240 mm Disc, Single piston caliper for the rear wheel.

Technically there are no changes expected on the TB 500X engine, the motorcycle will use the same engine as the TB500. The motorcycle will come powered with an BS-IV compliant fuel injected 499 cc single cylinder engine mated to a 5-speed gearbox. This engine makes 27 bhp @ 5,250 rpm; and a peak torque of 41.3 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The Thunderbird 500X is expected to be launched in January end or early Feb 2018.
