Honda Africa Twin deliveries commence in India

Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India Limited (HMSIL) has started delivering its flagship adventurer tourer CRF1000L Honda Africa Twin to its customers in India. The bike which is ‘Made in India’ by the Japanese two-wheeler major is its first litre class motorcycle to be done so. Generating a more than sufficient 65 kW of power and 92 Nm of torque, the bike has received an overwhelming response in the country with already more than 50 bookings in just over 2 month’s time.

Africa Twin, true to its roots, which originate from Honda’s Dakar’s racing history is known for its ultimate adventure skills that is capable of pushing both the man and machine to the edge of performance.

Speaking on this momentous occasion Mr. Minoru Kato (President & CEO – Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd said, “I would like to congratulate the first lucky customers on the delivery of their amazing machines. My own experience of riding the Africa Twin, during the development of one of its variant on my official assignment in Europe, was exhilarating. The motorcycle with its unique features, allows it to be very adaptable for varied riding conditions. I wish all the Africa Twin customers a memorable and adventurous experience.”

The Honda Africa Twin is equipped with the first in bike Unique Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) that enables for smooth acceleration and deceleration depending on the rider’s intent. The DCT gives the rider a choice of Manual and Automatic gear shifting to suit tarmac, dirt tracks and steep mountain passes. DCT technology also brings in Drive and Sports mode for that unique joy of riding.

Honda has also thrown in Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) and switchable ABS which greatly enhances the capability of the motorcycle, both on road and off road.

The bike has been launched at INR 12.9 lakhs ex-showroom, pan India.
