Hyundai Aura engine options revealed, to get segment 1st BS-VI Turbo Petrol engine

Hyundai has today announced the engine options for its upcoming sedan as ‘Aura’. The Korean car maker had also released an official teaser for the Hyundai Aura a few days back. As per a few speculations floating around the Hyundai Aura will be the next generation Xcent sedan.

Powering the Hyundai Aura sedan would be two Petrol and one Diesel engine options. On the petrol lineup you have the 1.2L Kappa Dual VTVT engine with 5-speed manual and AMT transmission option. The second petrol engine option would be the 1.0L Turbo GDi with 5-speed manual transmission option. This is the BS-VI compliant engine and would also make the Hyundai Aura the first car in the segment to get a Turbo Petrol engine. The Diesel engine option would be the tried and trusted 1.2L U2 CRDi with either a 5-speed Manual or a AMT transmission option to choose from.

As per Hyundai the name is inspired by the ‘Vibrance of Positivity’ and ‘Spirit to Go the Distance’ of the young passionate achievers. Acknowledging their life-force ‘Zeal to Go beyond Limits’, Hyundai ‘AURA’ is cautiously crafted to deliver ‘Superior than The Most’ to the aspirational Indian Customers.

Like the Hyundai Xcent sedan was based on the Grand i10 hatch similarly the Hyundai Aura sedan would be based on the recently launched Grand i10 NIOS premium hatch. In terms of feature list the Hyundai Aura sedan is expected to come loaded till the brim in typical Hyundai fashion.

Keeping in mind the need of new age customers and future emission norms in India, various amalgamations of petrol and diesel engines with Manual and AMT transmission powertrains have been devised for customers to choose from. Strong emphasis has been laid on creating ‘Advanced After Treatment System’ to meet the highest standards of emission regulations. Hyundai AURA has Advanced NOx TrapCatalyst and PM Filters to minimize the environmental pollution and optimise ‘After Treatment System’ performance.

Hyundai is likely to launch the Aura sedan in a few weeks that would be priced in the ₹6 Lakh to ₹9 Lakh range. The Hyundai Aura will compete with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki DZire, Honda Amaze, Volkswagen Ameo, Ford Aspire in its sub-4meter Sedan segment.
