India-bound Lexus LS showcased at GIIAS 2017

The Lexus LS is the most luxurious sedan the Japanese luxury car manufacturer makes and is India bound early next year.

The ongoing GIIAS 2017 or more fondly called Indonesian Motor Show saw the flagship Lexus LS sedan grab some eyeballs. The sedan which is set to launch in India by the end of this year or early next year. The car will be launched in its LS 500 avatar which is powered by a 3.5-litre V6 petrol motor that develops 415 HP and 600 Nm. It will compete with the likes of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7-Series and Audi A8 in India. The company might leave out the hybrid variant for India thanks to the higher post-GST tax rates on hybrids.

The Lexus LS gets the family Spindle grille, sharp looking headlights and elegant yet sharp looking rear profile as well. The car was launched in China recently but there it receives a LS 350 variant that is powered by a V6 petrol motor and develops 317 PS and 380 Nm. The car is based on a rear wheel drive GA-L platform that first debuted on the Lexus LC sports coupe. This new car will be fully imported into India when it launches early next year and will get a 10-speed automatic gearbox. The company currently has the Lexus LS long wheel base version only in left hand drive configuration.

Some of the other features available on the Lexus LS sedan are a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Mark Levinson surround sound system and leather upholstery on the seats and dashboard. The seats will offer its occupants a Shiatsu massage and come with ventilation as well as heating function. On the outside you get adaptive headlights and 20-inch wheels. The luxury sedan comes with features like air suspension, Pedestrian Detection system with steering assist and a heads up display for the driver.
