Jaguar Land Rover announces post GST pricing
Jaguar Land Rover products have seen a price drop of around 7% across the product line post GST.
Goods and Services Tax (GST) has been one of the most ambitious reforms that has been implremented by any Government of India. With the new tax regime rolling out from July 1, it has been a mixed bag for automobile industry with a few segments seeing a rise in prices while the other few seeing a drop.
Now, Jaguar Land Rover, one of the successful luxury brands in the country, has proactively announced the pricing of its entire range of cars post GST. These prices will be effective from 1st of July, 2017.
With the GST getting capped at 28% percent with an additional surcharge of 15%, the overall taxation has come down by 12-13% which will benefit the luxury segment to a large extent.Across the entire range, Jaguar Land Rover’s pricing has seen a price drop of around 7% on an average.
Speaking at the time of price announcement, Rohit Suri, President and Managing Director, Jaguar Land Rover India, said, “We are very pleased to welcome the dawn of the new GST era in India and are happy to announce that we are ready for GST and our customers can purchase Jaguar & Land Rover cars at the new GST prices with immediate effect from any of our 25 retail outlets across India.”
Asked about how prepared the company is for the new tax system, Mr. Suri said, “We are absolutely ready. We have been working on this for the last 8-9 months to be ready. Although we had to modify some of the earlier plans closer to GST implementation, even our partners and supply chain is ready.”
Currently, Jaguar Land Rover sells the following name plates in India Jaguar XE, Jaguar XF, Jaguar XJ and another two name plates under the Range Rover name, Range Rover Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque.
