LIVE – Mahindra Unveils the All New Thar, Bookings to open on 2nd October

Mahindra has unveiled the latest and highly anticipated SUV the All New Thar today on the occasion of the 74th Independence Day. Bookings for the New Thar will open from 2nd October along with its price being announced on the same day, this day also happens to be the Founders day for Mahindra. The Thar is available in 6 colours, Red Rage, Mystic Copper, Napoli Black, Aquamarine, Galaxy Grey and Rocky Beige. The Thar is available in two trims, the AX and the LX.

The legendary off roading brute SUV has now entered its 2nd generation and has gotten more capable. The All New Thar will be available in three body versions – Composite Hard Top, Convertible Soft Top and Fixed Soft Top Options. The Mahindra Thar has always been regarded as the most brute SUV and has had huge fan following, off roading clubs and enthusiasts swearing by it right since its 1st generation. Now with this latest incarnation the SUV is all set to be loved and wanted by a wider spectrum of buyers.

In terms of the exteriors the New Thar regains the Boxy true blue iconic Jeep like overall silhouette and stance. The SUV gets a much wider profile giving it that brute look. The Thar also gets the latest tech, convenience and styling features on it which include LED DRL, LED Tail Lamps, 7 inch touch screen AVN system, Apple CarPlay compatibility, customisable gauges and adventure stats in AVN, roof mounted weatherproof speakers, IP54 rated weather proof switches, tyre pressure monitor, compass, all new instrument cluster with digital screen, sports washable seats, washable floor with drain plugs to name few.

The All New Thar comes with two engine options, you have the 2.2L BS-6 Turbo Diesel mHawk 130 unit that makes 130hp and 300Nm of torque. For petrol lovers you have the 2.0L BS-6 mStallion 150 motor that makes 150hp of power and 320Nm of torque. Both the engine have been developed in house in India by Mahindra. Transmission options to go with these engine include a 6-speed manual and also a 6-speed Torque Converter Automatic option.

In terms of safety the All New Mahindra Thar gets dual airbags, 3 point seat belts, crash safety complaint structure, ESP with roll over mitigation, Hill hold control, hill descent control, ISOFIX child seats anchors, Tyre pressure monitor etc.

The Thar drives on Standard 245/75 R16 Tyres or optional 255/65 R18 Tyres With 789 mm Tyre Diameter. The SUV has a water wading ability of 650mm and a ground clearance of 266mm with the 18 inch wheels. The SUV has an 41.8˚ as its Approach Angle, and 36.8˚Departure Angle with  27˚ Break Over Angles With R18 Wheel And Tyre Combination

For the off-roading gadgetry the All New Thar comes with 4W Drive With 4-High And 4-Low Range, Electromechanical Driveline Disconnect (Front Axle), Mechanical Locking Rear Differential (MLD), Brake Locking Differential (BLD) On Front and Rear Axle to name a few.
