Formerly known as Barcelona International Motor Show, the Automobile Barcelona was conducted this year between May 13-21. Many global automobile manufacturers were present in the Auto Show, showcasing their products and their future in-pipeline prototypes.

India’s Mahindra too did not waste the opportunity to showcase to the world what it is capable of; in fact, it had displayed its entire range of products for display in the Auto Show. But the one which was a stand out among them was a limited-edition version of the famous XUV 500.

This special edition of XUV 500 was displayed in the company’s sunset orange color with the roof finished in black. The roof rails, all the pillars and mirrors were finished in black too to give the SUV a floating roof appearance which seems to have been pulled off well.

The interior of this limited edition dual tone XUV 500 from Mahindra also was spotted fitted with infotainment systems for the rear seat passengers. The infotainment systems were integrated into the rear of seat headrests of front row passengers. The SUV was also seen fitted with new design alloy wheels finished in black.

While we know that the Mahindra XUV 500 is available in many variants, this limited edition version was displayed only in the top of the line W10 trim level. Specification wise, this trim level is powered by a 2.2 litre mHawk turbo diesel engine under the hood which generates 140 bhp of peak power and a strong wave of 330 Nm of torque. The vehicle in discussion, the one displayed in Spain, was seen equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission.

As of now, Mahindra has not uttered a word regarding the availability of this limited edition in India. But considering that Mahindra is not new to launching dual tone variants of its models, as seen in its entry level KUV 100 and sub 4 m SUV TUV 300, it is quite safe to assume that Mahindra will do the same with its flagship XUV 500.

As seen in the Auto Show, the special edition should be based on the W10 trim level which retails for Rs.16.58 lakhs (ex-showroom, Bangalore) for the manual front wheel drive version. Expect the special edition to be priced slightly higher.
