Maruti Suzuki Ignis AGS launched in top-end Alpha trim

The Maruti Suzuki Ignis AGS was previously available only on the lower trims. The Ignis gets an AMT gearbox instead of a CVT from the Baleno.

After launching the Maruti Baleno CVT in the top Alpha trim, the company has now launched the Ignis automatic in the range topping trim. The petrol Ignis AGS is priced at Rs. 7.01 lakhs while the diesel Ignis AGS will set you back by Rs. 8.08 lakhs ex-showroom, Delhi. The petrol engine is a 1.2-litre K-series motor that develops 83 HP and 113 Nm, while the diesel is a 1.3-litre unit that develops 75 HP and 190 Nm. Both engines also come equipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox upon which the AGS automatic transmission is based.

The Alpha trim of the Ignis AGS comes equipped with dual airbags, seat belts with pre-tensioner force limiter (PTFL) and ABS with EBD as standard fitments. The car is compliant for pedestrian safety, side-impact, and offset crash regulations ahead of regulation timeline. It also gets ISOFIX Anchorage, a child seat restraint system, a delight for the premium urban car user, as standard equipment in all variants. Some of the other first in class features of the Ignis include a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Car Play and Android Auto, Bi-xenon projector headlights and loads of customization options.

Introducing AGS on Ignis Alpha variant, Mr R S Kalsi, Senior Executive Director (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki India Limited said, “Our premium urban compact vehicle Ignis has been created for millennials, a none of a kind brand in the Indian market. Automatic Gear Shift (AGS) on the Ignis, so far offered in the Delta and Zeta trims, has been widely appreciated by customers and accounts for 27% of Ignis sales. We are now offering AGS in the top trim as well – Ignis Alpha. We expect this to strengthen brand Ignis and enhance the popularity of AGS amongst millennials.”
