Volvo S90 will take on the likes of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5-Series, Audi A6 and Jaguar XF, and is the most modern and advanced of them all.
Volvo India has finally launched the S90 sedan in India at Rs. 53.50 lakhs ex-showroom, Mumbai. The car will be sold as a direct import and is available in just one single “Inscription” trim level. The Volvo S90 borrows design cues from the XC90 and is based on the same SPA platform as well. The front concave grille takes inspiration from the iconic P1800 sports coupe that was sold back in the sixties. The headlights are full LED units and gets the Thor’s Hammer LED DRLs in them. The car stands at almost 5 metres long and looks striking especially from the front.
On the insides, the Volvo S90 feels as plush as it can get. There is dual tone dashboard with wood inserts and a piano black finish on the central console. There is a vertically stacked touchscreen infotainment system which is coupled with the brilliant sounding Bowers & Wilkins sound system. The instrument cluster is fully digital that displays a whole load of information and a Heads-up Display that falls exactly in the line of your sight. Some of the other features on the this flagship sedan are 4-zone climate control system and Nappa leather seats with heating and cooling function.
The Volvo S90 sedan is powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder diesel motor that also powers the XC90, but develops a bit less power rated at 190 HP and 400 Nm. The engine is mated to a 8-speed automatic gearbox that is sourced from Aisin, Japan. The car also gets 4 drive modes to choose from and a sophisticated adaptive air suspension system. On the safety front, this car is truly loaded with features like Airbags, Whiplash Protection for front seats, Emergency Brake Assist, Lane Keeping Aid, Park Assist Pilot, Hill Start Assist etc.
