Bajaj-Triumph alliance unveil the Speed 400 & Scrambler 400 X targeting the Royal Enfield’s, India entry on 5th of July

Bajaj-Triumph’s first motorcycles have been unveiled at their global launch in London a shirt while back. The Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X will enter the Indian market on the 5th of July.

Both the motorcycles have got the Triumph DNA intact and along with Bajaj aim to hit hard at the Royal Enfield segment which is a hugely booming one. Both the motorcycles are developed ground up Conceived and designed in Hinckley, UK, these two new additions to the modern classics line-up have been developed with the same exacting attention to detail as Triumph’s most celebrated models.

They are instantly recognisable thanks to their timeless Triumph silhouettes, signature sculpted fuel tanks and classic engine profiles.

Traditional touches, like the distinctive finned cylinder head and traditional exhaust header clamps combine with contemporary details like the upswept silencer, bold graphics and sensitively-incorporated technology, such as concealed liquid-cooling and a flowing exhaust run with hidden primary silencer. All combining to deliver that unmistakable Triumph modern classic style.

The engine casings comes with black powder-coated, tough gold anodised forks, high-quality paint and logo detailing which give both these motorcycles a very premium look.

The Speed 400 comes in a two-tone paint schemes which include Carnival Red, Caspian Blue and Phantom Black.

The Scrambler 400 X features protection for the headlight, radiator and sump, as well as handguards, a handlebar brace with pad and a longer front mudguard. The Scrambler 400 X is available in three stylish and contemporary colour schemes, each featuring Triumph’s distinctive ‘Scrambler’ tank stripe and triangle badge, with Matt Khaki Green and Fusion White, Carnival Red and Phantom Black, plus Phantom Black and Silver Ice options.

Other key features include an analogue speedometer with a digital MFD display. Other features include – Ride by wire throttle, switchable Traction control and ABS, Torque assist clutch, all LED lighting, anti-theft immobiliser.

Powering both the new Triumph motorcycles the Speed 400 and the Scrambler 400 X is a liquid cooled single cylinder 398cc engine that makes 40PS of power and 37.5Nm of torque mated to a 6-speed transmission.

The Speed 400 rides on 110/70 R17 front and 150/60 R17 Metzeler Sportec M9RR Tyres while the Scrambler 400 X rides on 100/90 R19 upfront and 140/80 R17 Metzeler Karoo Street tyres.

Braking duties on the Speed 400 is taken care with 300mm fixed disc four-piston radial caliper with ABS in the front and 230mm fixed disc with floating caliper and ABS at the rear. The Scrambler 400 X gets 320mm setup in the front while the rear setup remains the same. Both of them get a 43mm upside down Big Piston forks with 140mm wheel travel on the Speed 400 and 150mm travel for the Scrambler 400 X.

In terms of weight the Speed 400 stands at 170Kgs while the Scrambler 400 X weighs 179Kgs. Seat height stands at 790mm and 835mm for the Speed 400 & Scrambler 400 X.

Warranty on both these bikes is a class leading unlimited kms for 24 months with a 16,000kms service interval.
