Mahindra Scorpio Intelli-Hybrid Is India’s First Mild Hybrid SUV
Mahindra Scorpio Intelli-Hybrid has been launched at Rs. 12.84 lakhs ex-showroom, Mumbai and comes with features like Motor Assist, Electronic Start Stop and Brake Energy Regeneration.
Mahindra has just launched the Scorpio Intelli-Hybrid in India and gets some added tech to squeeze out the most miles out of your precious litre of fuel. The Mahindra Scorpio Intelli-Hybrid is the country’s first SUV to get the mild hybrid system but is not the first vehicle in India to get it, the Maruti Ciaz Diesel SHVS holds that crown. It uses various new gadgetry, like the Ciaz SHVS, like Motor Assist, Electronic Start Stop and Brake Energy Regeneration to improve fuel economy. The Intelli-Hybrid system reduces fuel consumption by up to 7 percent by assisting the engine with electric power during acceleration, automatically switching the engine off while the vehicle is stationary (start-stop) and re-using brake energy, which would otherwise be wasted, to charge the battery.
The most important news to take from this update though is that the Mahindra Scorpio will now be categorized as a Hybrid. This will make it future proof in case if the diesel ban is extended to other states in the country. Not to be confused with the Scorpio Micro-hybrid, as this is just a marketing name used by the company for its Engine Start/Stop System equipped models. The Mahindra Scorpio Intelli-Hybrid is available in the S4, S4+, S4+ 4WD, S6+, S8, S10 2WD (Manual Transmission), S10 4WD (Manual Transmission) variants.
Speaking about the introduction of Scorpio with Intelli-Hybrid, Pravin Shah, President and Chief Executive (Automotive), Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd. said, “As an organisation that places keen emphasis on sustainability and eco-friendly practices, across every process and product, we are proud to introduce mild hybrid technology on the Scorpio. By reducing fuel consumption, Intelli-Hybrid helps Scorpio owners contribute towards a cleaner and greener tomorrow.”
