Two new Mercedes AMG SUVs launched in one go
Mercedes Benz, one of India’s leading luxury car makers has strengthened its SUV portfolio in the country with the launch of two powerful SUVs – Mercedes AMG G63 ‘Edition 463’ and Mercedes AMG GLS 63.
With these two launches, Mercedes has 8 products in its SUV portfolio, spearheaded by the AMG sub brand, the largest from any luxury automaker in the country.
Mercedes Benz G Wagen is one of the most sought after SUV in the world especially for its performance and luxury combo which is unmatched. Even after 37 years since its launch, the Mercedes Benz AMG G Wagen is still handcrafted in Graz, Austria and no other SUV is built like one. The key highlights of the AMG branded SUVs include superior driving performance, generous space for passengers and luggage compartment.
Speaking at the launch of Mercedes AMG G63 limited edition 463 and Mercedes AMG GLS 63, Mr.Roland Folger, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India said, ““Our AMG portfolio has witnessed overwhelming success and we are thrilled to introduce two new performance SUVs– Mercedes-AMG G 63 ‘Edition 463’ and Mercedes AMG GLS 63 to our performance luxury SUV range in India. The new Mercedes AMG G63 is powered by a supercharged 5.5 litre V8 engine developing 420 kW @5500 rpm and a mind-blowing torque of 760 Nm @5000 rpm. Boasting a top speed of 210 kmph the 3 tonne SUV can dart itself to 100 kmph in 5.4 seconds. The SUV has three 100% differential locks, an off-road reduction gear and an Electric Traction System 4ETS making it one of the most accomplished and powerful SUVs ever sold in the world.
Meanwhile, the Mercedes AMG GLS 63 AMG has a massive 5.5 litre V8 bi-turbo engine under the hood which develops a peak power of 430 kW and a torque figure of 760 Nm. The AMG Ride Control sports suspension with Active Curve System stabilization bar provides excellent driving dynamics along with tremendous comfort level. The permanent AMG performance 4MATIC system has a discrete transfer case which has a rear biased power delivery that will also deliver power to the front wheels based on the situation.
The Mercedes-AMG G 63 ‘Edition 463’ is priced at INR 2.17 crores and the Mercedes- AMG GLS 63 is priced from INR 1.58 crores onwards (prices ex-showroom Pune).
